Washington, PA – December 14, 2009 – Ondrea Barnes from the Coldwell Banker Real Estate office in Peters Township was named REALTOR® of the by the Washington-Greene Association of REALTORS® (WGAR). Barnes was honored at the annual installation luncheon on December 10 at Jeremiah’s Banquet facility. The award honors those who have made a lifetime commitment to community and business involvement.
Barnes says she had no clue that she would be named REALTOR® of the YEAR. But her record of achievements and accomplishments would indicate otherwise. Barnes is a perennial winner of the Circle of Excellence Award and in the top ten percent of REALTORS® in Coldwell Banker Pittsburgh. Barnes has been active on the WGAR board for the past several years serving as the organizations treasurer in 2009 and elected board secretary for 2010.
During her spare time she volunteers at the Washington County Food Bank. “Volunteers can come in around their spare time and help repack food items that are distributed to families in need. The flexible schedule allows me to volunteer when time permits and it’s such a worthwhile cause,” says Barnes.
Barnes also does what she can for a women’s shelter in the county. “We collect winter coats and other clothing or whatever is needed,” she adds.
Barnes lives in Peters Township with her husband Allen and has two grown boys, Christopher and Zachary. She credits her family with much of her success as a REALTOR@. “Real estate is not a nine to five job, but my family always supported me,” Barnes recalled. “I have a passion for helping people and being a realtor gives me an opportunity to get excited about working with home buyers and sellers,” she adds.
The Washington-Greene Association of REALTORS® has proudly served the real estate professionals of Washington and Greene Counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania since 1925. The REALTOR® of the Year Award is the greatest honor bestowed upon a REALTOR® by their peers at the local level. The award recognizes a REALTOR® for meritorious contributions to the advancement of their profession and the real estate community at large.
The purpose of the Award is to: recognize outstanding REALTOR® members of our Association for the effort and work expended in the interest of their fellow REALTORS®, their profession, and the real estate community at large; demonstrate the outstanding work done by REALTORS® to the general public; identify those REALTORS® best suited for leadership positions; and foster a spirit of camaraderie among those who are in a position to do much of the productive work in local associations/boards, the state association, and the national association.
All REALTOR® members are eligible for nomination.
